Staff: Introducing Kim “Whitefeather” Guisinger

Kim has been involved with bodywork for 22 years. During this time she has learned a variety of interesting techniques that she now uses in customizing clients’ massage treatments. Kim has had the opportunity to study and work with some of the leading practitioners in bodywork. has been able to observe and be part of changes and advancements in this field.

Through the years Kim has become a proficient practitioner of Swedish, Neuromuscular, Lymphatic, Reflexology and Craniosacral massages. Learning these approaches and many other healing techniques has given her the ability to match techniques according to the needs of clients. When Kim was selected to provide therapeutic massage treatments for cancer patients in a hospital setting, she designed treatment plans that called for advanced lymphatic techniques so that she could softly but effectively stimulate lymphatic drainage. She was also massage therapist on the medical staff in an integrative health center. This setting required great knowledge and the application of multiple skills in order to help patients recover from a variety of illness and injuries. Her experience and skills enabled  her to quickly customize approaches that fit the needs of each patient. This is one reason Beverly has invited Kim to join the core staff of the .. When giving individual massage therapy, Kim approaches each treatment as though it is an adventure in exploring where your body/mind is now and how your partnership with her knowledge and skills might help you achieve your wellness goals.

Kim's  teaching experience greatly enhances her  helpfulness to patients and Retreat participants of the . For eight years she was a national instructor for the International Academy of Neuromuscular Therapies. she traveled around the United States presenting workshops to physical/occupational/massage therapists. More recently, she has  taught progressive massage classes and techniques at several  massage schools. Kim's knowledge and teaching skills are invaluable in sharing self-help techniques with Retreat participants. As she learns about a patient's specific wellness needs, she is able to quickly match them up with various self- massage techniques that they can scontinue to use at home – and possibly share with  family and friends.

Massage Therapists are now highly trained and must take state exams for licensure. Kim is called upon all over the country to teach various forms of therapeutic massage and to prepare advanced students for licensure.
