The Phenomena of Social Health

About the Author

Presently, I am a degreed and licensed health practitioner in Sedona, AZ (acupuncturist, herbalist, nutritionist, health educator) specializing in wellness enhancement and complementary healthcare.  I am also an author and founder/director of an innovative wellness service.  Here, in part, is how I arrived at this place:

When I first went to college, I thought I was majoring in sociology/anthropology because I didn’t know what I REALLY wanted to be professionally.  Wrong!  As life fled by, I realized that people and the societies we live in were/are, in fact, my core interests.  I loved learning and writing about people of various societies.  It was exciting to pack my little suitcase and travel throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, parts of the Middle East and to live for 2 years in a rural East African village (Peace Corps).  It was enlightening to have spent meaningful time with my American and East Indian friends.  And what a valuable journey it has been living and evolving through the social growing pains of the U.S. through Presidents FDR to Obama.

During my life I have experienced firsthand and studied how people and our health are affected physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually by whichever social systems we live in.  I have opened the eyes of my secondary school and college students, health professionals and lay people by creating platforms for critical thinking and opportunities to design and participate in creative ways of improving the health of their communities/societies.  Through this blog, I now offer such a platform globally – to all who are attracted to participating in our blog-community.
